In Ohio, school boards play a significant role in supporting public libraries, serving as the taxing authority for most of them. Their responsibilities include appointing trustees to library boards, reviewing and approving annual budget requests, and occasionally allocating inside millage or submitting tax levies and bond issues for voter approval.
