Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted announced on March 21, 2020, that the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) will delay premium installment payments for employers for March, April and May 2020. The deferral of premium installment payments applies to state fund employers, both private and public, only. At this time, self-insured employers’ assessment payments are not postponed or delayed.  All billing for self-insured employers will remain the same and all assessment payments must be on time, or they will be considered late.

Per the announcement, installment payments for this period total approximately $200 million. During this time, public and private employers’ BWC coverage will not lapse nor will penalties be assessed for amounts not paid because of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.
