EEOC extends deadline to file 2019 EEO-1 report
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) recently announced that, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it will extend the deadline for employers to file their 2019 EEO-1 report to March 2021. This form requires private employers with 100 or more employees, and federal contractors with 50 or more employees and federal contracts valued at $50,000 or greater, to annually collect and report employee demographic information such as race, ethnicity and gender.
By extending the reporting deadline, employers who would have been required to file their 2019 EEO-1 report by May 31, 2020, will not need to file either a 2019 or the 2020 report until the new deadline in 2021. The EEOC has stated that it will provide notice to employers required to file EEO-1 reports informing them of the specific date in March 2021 when the report is to be filed.
