Ohio High School Wrestling Coaches Association names Stout its 2020-2021 Sportsmanship Award Recipient
Bricker Public Finance attorney and Upper Arlington High School Boys’ Wrestling Coach Matt Stout was recently honored at the state wrestling tournament by the Ohio High School Wrestling Coaches Association as the winner of its 2020-2021 OHSAA Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity (SEI) award. The SEI award is given annually to one coach within each state-sanctioned high school sport, with the directors or executive committees of each respective state coaches or allied organization determining the honoree.
Stout has been coaching since 1995 and has served as head coach at his alma mater for the past ten years. During his tenure as head coach at Upper Arlington, Stout has coached 18 state qualifiers and four state placers while mentoring over 350 student athletes. His teams have captured three sectional championships and one OHSAA Team Duals Regional championship. As a student athlete himself, Stout was an OHSAA state runner-up and four-time state qualifier for UA before competing collegiately at the University of Michigan, where he was a team captain and three-year starter for the Wolverines. Stout currently serves as the public address announcer for the University of Michigan Wrestling.
