Nokuri elected to serve as president of central Ohio’s African-American bar association
Beatrice Nokuri, associate with the law firm of Bricker & Eckler LLP, was recently elected to serve as president of the John Mercer Langston Bar Association, central Ohio’s affiliate to the National Bar Association, the nation's oldest and largest national network of predominantly African-American attorneys and judges. Her one-year term began on July 1, 2017.
The John Mercer Langston Bar Association (JMLBA) is central Ohio’s minority affiliate member of the National Bar Association. In the spirit of its namesake, the JMLBA provides valuable information including opportunities for networking, mentoring and community service to those in need.
Nokuri is a member of Bricker’s health care industry group. She helps her health care clients navigate all aspects of facility operations, patent care and medical staff issues and a myriad of regulatory issues. Prior to becoming a licensed attorney, she worked as a registered nurse for more than nine years. As a registered nurse, Nokuri worked in a variety of health care settings including acute care, home health care, long-term care and hospice.
A good steward in her profession and in the community, Nokuri has held key leadership positions with a variety of organizations in addition to her work with JMLBA. She served as a Diversity & Inclusion Facilitator for the American Health Lawyers Association and is an active member of the Society of Ohio Healthcare Attorneys and the Women for Economic Leadership and Development. Columbus Business First named Nokuri as a “Rising Law Star” in 2016 and Ohio Super Lawyers dubbed her a “Rising Star” in 2017.
Nokuri earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from Berea College and her law degree, with honors, from Capital University Law School.
