Miskimen, former ODNR chief legal counsel, joins the Bricker team

Brock A. Miskimen, former chief legal counsel for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), has joined Bricker & Eckler LLP as a member of the law firm’s Energy & Utilities Industry Group and Government Relations team. With a unique practice that blends public sector experience with energy and environmental law, as well as connectivity to Eastern and Southeastern Ohio communities, he will assist in handling energy-related transactions and regulatory proceedings to help businesses and communities execute sound legal strategies.

In his most recent position with ODNR, Brock was responsible for advising the Oil and Gas Leasing Commission. He coordinated litigation involving with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, including the settlement of a multi-million-dollar litigation matter involving decades of flooding. Brock also managed outside counsel contracts and oversaw the in-house legal staff of over a dozen attorneys.

Prior to joining ODNR in 2013, Brock held several positions in federal, state and county offices. Specifically, he worked at the Ohio Treasurer of State, Delaware County Probate Court with Judge Kenneth Spicer, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio with Judge Edmund Sargus, Jr., the Ohio House of Representatives and the United States House of Representatives.

Miskimen holds both an undergraduate and a graduate degree in political science from Miami University. In fact, while earning his graduate degree, Brock performed extensive research on economic development in Appalachian Ohio. He is also a Capital University Law School graduate and has practiced law since 2010.
