Flynn discusses ESG and the health care sector
Environmental, social and governance efforts (also known as ESG) are taking center stage among today’s health care leaders and boards. While corporations and public entities have historically showcased the importance of corporate social responsibility within their operations to build loyalty among shareholders, donors and customers, health care organizations are earlier in the journey to embrace ESG, especially in the wake of a pandemic and staffing shortages.
According to a recent Modern Healthcare article, “ESG: Healthcare’s new imperative,” which features Bricker attorney and managing partner Jim Flynn, a health system’s commitment to ESG principles is vital to stakeholders and may offer a competitive advantage. However, “ESG must be a living, breathing commitment, constantly adapting and evolving along with the organization as it progresses on goals.” And, as stated by Flynn, “no organization can ever declare ‘finished’ on ESG.”
