Bricker team assists OSU with historic bond offering
First-ever "Century Bond" for a public university is getting national press
COLUMBUS, Ohio— Bricker & Eckler served as bond counsel to The Ohio State University on its recent bond offering, the first ever 100-year maturity for a public university. The proceeds from the sale of the bonds will be used for several projects on the university’s main campus. The $500 million dollar issue, which matures in 2111, was sold at an annual interest rate of 4.80%, the lowest interest rate ever for a so-called "Century Bond."
Investor interest was high, with more than $1.7 billion in orders. Additionally, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and Business First, as well as other financial publications, are running articles about this innovative financing. A search on Bing produced nearly 76 million hits.
Two Bricker attorneys, Bill Conard and Caleb Bell, led the transaction, drafting the documents and advising on the structure of the offering. For more information, please contact Bill Conard at 614.227.2351 or wconard@bricker.com.
