Bricker makes law firm history with “Relativity Innovation Award” win
Bricker & Eckler, a finalist in the 2017 Relativity Innovation Awards competition, came home with the top prize in the “Best Law Firm or Corporate Solution” category at this year’s Relativity Fest e-discovery conference. In August, the firm’s same legal technology project was recognized with International Legal Technology Association’s (ILTA) top award, “Innovative Project of the Year.” Bricker is the first law firm to become both a Relativity award and an ILTA award recipient in the same year.
Using the Relativity platform as a basis for development, Bricker’s collaborative team of energy attorneys and litigation support personnel built a unique technology solution on behalf of, and in conjunction with, one of our clients – a natural gas distributor in the process of developing a massive interstate pipeline. Through the use of multiple applications, the team established the ability to organize information related to thousands of real estate documents and manage the individual data of multiple landowners, tracts and lawsuits. This technology solution saved both the firm and the client an unquantifiable amount of resources. The end result was a user-friendly system that would compile documents from a variety of sources, even creating litigation documents with the click of a button. The Relativity Innovation Awards is an annual competition celebrating organizations that use Relativity in creative ways, solving difficult or unique challenges within and outside of e-discovery. Judges selected solutions that use various application integration points to display an extensive use of Relativity’s APIs to streamline processes, solve complex workflow needs and create an altogether new solution that positively impacts business strategy.
Relativity judged 26 project submissions. The other innovative project finalists in this category included Kilpatrick Townsend, a law firm that developed an application add exhibit stickers quickly and without error, and Troutman Sanders, an international law firm that developed a platform for processing and storing data in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Additional winners were announced in the “Best Service Provider Solution” and “Community Choice” categories.
Bricker attorney Frank Merrill and Litigation Support Manager Dave Hasman presented at the conference, describing the firm’s customized use of Relativity to fulfill a client’s needs.
