Bricker & Eckler among highest-ranked firms on The National Law Journal’s Women in Law Scorecard
COLUMBUS - The National Law Journal (NLJ) ranked Bricker & Eckler No. 26 in the nation on its NLJ 500 Women in Law Scorecard, which spotlights “U.S. law firms where women thrive.” According to the journal’s website, Bricker, with a score of 64.8, ranks as the highest Ohio-based law firm included on the list.
Bricker is recognized for having females account for 37 percent of the firm’s total attorneys. In addition, 27 percent of partners at the firm are female, illustrating Bricker & Eckler’s commitment to gender diversity and inclusion.
NLJ determines each firm’s ranking by comparing the number of female lawyers and female partners at the nation’s top law firms. Those two percentages are added together to generate each firm’s score.
On the scorecard, 254 firms responded with gender-specific data. The report found that, on average, females make up just 21 percent of attorneys at firms across the nation. Bricker’s female attorney representation is 16 percent above that national average.
“Bricker & Eckler has a strong history of groundbreaking diversity that can be traced back to the years before other firms made diversity and inclusion in the workplace a priority,” says Katie Giumenti, partner and vice chair of the firm’s Women in Networking (WIN) group, which celebrates and encourages the talents, attributes and experiences of the firm’s female attorneys. Among the firm’s inclusive initiatives is the promotion of alternative work arrangements to allow all attorneys to balance their careers, community involvement and family lives.
Bricker continues to stress the significance of attracting diverse talent to cultivate a culture where its people are valued for their contributions to the firm and clients. The firm’s Diversity & Inclusion report includes additional information about its most recent efforts.
