Bricker & Eckler Attorney Authors Ohio’s “Go To” Treatise on Tort Law
Cleveland ...Christopher M. Ernst, Esq., a partner at Bricker & Eckler LLP and a member of its Litigation and Business Law practices, in conjunction with West (a Thomson Reuters business), has just released a second, expanded edition of the only comprehensive treatise on tort law for the state of Ohio.
“This book puts all of Ohio tort law – especially business torts – at the attorney’s fingertips,” said Ernst. “This resource is an easy resource tool for quick access to case law. When used in conjunction with Westlaw, it is unbeatable for easy, fast and reliable research.”
Baldwin’s Ohio Practice: Tort Law (Second Edition) is an exhaustive look at every area of tort law. The largest focus of the book is business torts (Conversion, Fraud and the like), but it also completely analyzes personal injury, products liability and other traditional torts. The five volumes contain 79 chapters and 4200 pages of text – ten times the length of the first edition.
“I took a ‘clean sheet of paper’ approach on this edition, with the goal of both broadening and deepening the coverage of the first edition,” said Ernst. “The result is a book valuable to any lawyer whose clients face possible exposure and tort liability in a wide variety of fact situations, not just personal injury lawyers.”
The work is organized for quick reference. Each chapter illustrates a different kind of tort law, including real-world scenarios and information on how Ohio’s different appellate districts vary in their approaches. Its approach is fair and balanced, making it useful for plaintiff and defense lawyers alike. The work is expected to be purchased by practicing lawyers, law firms, corporate legal departments, law libraries, and law schools.
Ernst is a member of the Bricker & Eckler Litigation and Business Law groups and is located in Bricker & Eckler’s Cleveland office.
