About the Speakers
Jim Burnes is a partner in the Bricker & Eckler’s Education Law Group and has provided representation to school districts throughout Ohio for more than 30 years in all areas of school law with an emphasis on grievance arbitration; unfair labor practice charges; school annexations; collective bargaining; federal and state employment discrimination and litigation; public sector bidding; and construction law. He has served as counsel for school boards and public agencies before the State Employment Relations Board, federal and state court, the Ohio Board of Tax Appeals and numerous arbitrators.
Kimball Carey is a partner in the Bricker & Eckler’s Education Law Group. His practice is devoted exclusively to the representation of K-12 education entities and related matters. He is the author of the Ohio School Law Manual, and serves as General Counsel to the Buckeye Association of School Administrators.
Melissa Carleton is a member in the Bricker & Eckler’s Education Law Group. She is also a member of Bricker & Eckler’s Health Care Reform Task Force and has been actively involved in developing publications relating to health care reform and advising school districts on health care reform-related issues.
Nick Pittner is a partner in the Bricker & Eckler’s Education Law Group and a member of the firm’s Health Care Reform Task Force. Nick served as lead counsel for the plaintiff school districts in the DeRolph school funding litigation and is a recognized expert on public school finance and related matters.
Jack Rosati is a partner and chair of the Bricker & Eckler’s Construction Law Group. He has a litigation practice, emphasizing public works bid disputes and consultation on specifications, construction litigation, and insurance coverage issues. He has been construction counsel for numerous public owners and has mediated, arbitrated and litigated complex construction claims on both single prime and multiple prime contractor projects.
