What You Will Learn
We will identify the most common mistakes made by owners in Ohio public contracting, explain the ramifications of these mistakes, and show how they can be avoided. We will look at mistakes involving project delivery format, bidding, key contract risk shifting provisions, retainage, liquidated damages, warranty terms, utility protection, and sole source procurement.
About the Speakers
Doug Shevelow is a member of the Bricker & Eckler LLP Construction Law Group
and a Professional Engineer. He focuses on litigation and transactional law pertaining to heavy/highway and plant construction such as differing site conditions, implied
warranty of plans, and underground utility protection for owners and contractors.
Ben Hyden is also a member of the Bricker & Eckler LLP Construction Law Group. He is located in the Cincinnati-Dayton office. Ben served two years as a construction fellow in the Bricker & Eckler Construction Fellowship Program while in law school and has an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering. He has experience in managing commercial construction projects, construction scheduling, contractor claim review
and project cost control.
