Anju Vallabhaneni, former CEO of Ohio-based United Software Group, and Jatinder Singh, a former solution manager for the State of Ohio, were recently indicted for their participation in a complex wire fraud and conspiracy scheme. Singh had legally worked with Vallabhaneni to develop an automated system for the unemployment compensation appeals process. The system included proprietary code that was paid for and owned by the State.
It’s alleged that Singh, posing a United Software Group employee, then conspired with Vallabhaneni to pitch the same system to state officials in West Virginia. It is believed that the pair not only falsified Singh’s public employment but also led West Virginia officials to believe that the proprietary system was owned by United and available for “off-the-shelf” purchase.
Singh and Vallabhaneni now face up to 20 years in prison for each of the several crimes they are suspected of committing.
