Joy of Legos
The Art of the Brick exhibit of Lego art by former lawyer Nathan Sawaya is drawing big crowds at Cincinnati's Museum Center. As much as the artwork, I enjoyed seeing the kids (and my grandson) relate to a toy-medium-in-art. Legos become like other art-creating material, whether pigment, digital pixels, marble, wood, metal, mosaics, bone and so on, all imitated by Mr. Sawaya. The exhibit draws us in with an amazement over a versatile and familiar new medium for creativity. Afterwards the kids are all high energy as they do sculptures of their own on site.
