During the last presidential campaign, President Obama famously touted the role of government in helping private businesses by saying “If you’ve got a business-you didn’t build that.” Now the federal government has had 3 years to set up the Affordable Care Act insurance exchanges and has spent an estimated $500 million for website development of healthcare.gov. As the exchanges have collapsed in disarray, the administration has called on some of those same private businesses, including Verizon, for a technology bailout. You have to believe that many business owners are quietly satisfied with this turn of events.
