The company behind the project Moraine and Montgomery County officials code-named “Project Crispy” is no longer a secret. Massillon-based Shearer’s Foods, LLC, is “seeking a tax credit to begin operations in Moraine” according to an Ohio Tax Credit Authority meeting agenda, in “what could be a $106 million project,” the Dayton Daily News reports. City and Montgomery County documents show the snack foods manufacturer “wants to bring 250 jobs to the area” with a payroll of $12.56 million and average salary of $50,240, according to the company’s Economic Development/Government Equity (ED/GE) application, the article reports. The Montgomery County Commission “approved $225,000 in development funding for the once-unnamed business” in Moraine’s application for funding. ED/GE application documents say tenant construction could begin on the former General Motors Springboro Pike paint shop facility this year, and be fully operational in late 2026. Shearer’s has “17 manufacturing facilities in Ohio, Texas, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Iowa and in Canada, in Ontario and Alberta.” For more, read the full article.
