A recent report in Cincinnati.com did a very good job describing the inherent issues municipalities, particularly economic development officials, encounter while trying to grow their tax base: 1) job attraction vs. job retention, and 2) the phenomenon of neighboring communities actively recruiting or “poaching” each other’s companies.

A new job tax credit bill has been introduced in the Ohio House of Representatives to spur job creation for employees who primarily work from their home.

Mark Kvamme, Chief Investment Officer for Ohio's new economic development organization revealed that JobsOhio was setting aside the highly touted plan to use JobsOhio dollars to make equity investments directly in growing businesses to retain them in the state.
