Recently, the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation board approved a proposal to “reduce the average rates that public employers pay by 5 percent,” the Columbus Dispatch reports. Effective January 1, 2013, the reduction is projected to lower combined premiums for the state’s 3,900 cities, counties, townships, villages, school districts and other local governments by an estimated $12.7 million, although base rates will decrease more for some than others, the article said.
