University of Cincinnati President Santa Ono has been named to the Ohio Third Frontier Commission's 16-member advisory board, Cincinnati Enquirer reports. The commission allocates Third Frontier funds throughout Ohio in an effort to fuel innovative, "technology-based products, companies, industries and jobs." With just $118 million of the $1.17 billion spent by the organization in 2012 going toward Southwest Ohio, some in the local business community are optimistic that Ono's appointment will give the region "an influential voice" for funding allocations, the article said.
