TechColumbus is shedding its role as a "regional advocacy and networking organization for established midsize and large technology companies" so that it can focus on helping technology-based startups launch and raise capital, Columbus Business First reports. The nonprofit's CEO, Tom Walker, cut the staff by a third to 21 employees, all of whom work in two divisions: "those who manage investments in startups and those who provide hands-on venture support." Additionally, the organization is taking over the First Customer program from the Columbus 2020 economic development organization; this effort "helps young firms get fast-tracked to introductions to the region's largest corporate buyers."
