State of Ohio’s employment summary: May 2012

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) released state figures this morning noting that Ohio’s unemployment rate continues to slowly decline, currently settling at 7.3 percent in May, down from 7.4 percent in the month of April. The number of workers unemployed in the state of Ohio in May was 426,000, down from 431,000 in April. 

As noted in our June 1 blog post, the U.S. unemployment rate for May slightly increased by 0.1 percent to 8.2 percent, which is up from April’s 8.1 percent. June 2012 unemployment rates and nonagricultural wage and salary data for Ohio will be released by the ODJFS on Friday, July 20, 2012.
