State of Ohio’s employment summary: August 2012

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) released state figures this morning noting that Ohio’s unemployment rate held steady at 7.2 percent in August, unchanged from the month of July. The number of workers unemployed in the state of Ohio in August was 413,000, down from 418,000 in July.

As noted in our September 7 blog post, the U.S. unemployment rate decreased from 8.3 percent in July to 8.1 percent in August, down from 9.1 percent in August 2011. September 2012 unemployment rates and nonagricultural wage and salary data for Ohio will be released by the ODJFS on Friday, October 19.
