The Southern Ohio Port Authority (SOPA) and the Lawrence County Economic Development Corporation are partnering “to bring development to the area between Wheelersburg and Hanging Rock,” reports communitycommon.com. SOPA Executive Director Jason Kester said there is a current emphasis on regional economic development “because nobody has enough assets of their own, to go at it alone.” Kester noted that the two agencies are looking for property that they can purchase together; their biggest hurdle, he said, will be “finding sufficient funding to execute the plan” to buy the property and for the necessary engineering.
