Shale study projects 200,000 new jobs in Ohio by 2015

Ohio's entry into Utica Shale oil and gas drilling could bring an estimated 200,000 jobs to the state by 2015 and substantially increase income and tax revenues, according to a recent report prepared for the Ohio Oil & Gas Energy Education Program (OOGEEP) and related industry organizations.

The report, coordinated by Kleinhenz & Associates, projects wage and personal income increases of $12 billion, and federal, state and local tax payments totaling $479 billion.  The economic impact to Ohio's schools, businesses, landowners and communities may include royalty payments totaling $1.6 billion over the next five years.
