Prairie Township in Franklin County credits joint economic development zone with 2014 budget surplus

The 2014 budget for Franklin County's Prairie Township features a number of projects made possible by a voter-approved Joint Economic Development Zone (JEDZ) agreement, ThisWeek Community News reports. Formed in 2011, the JEDZ enables the township to "capture income taxes from those who work in the West Broad Street corridor" and to apply the resulting revenue to a variety of efforts, including economic development initiatives.
