The Grote Company recently bought Chicago-based automation equipment maker Pizzamatic and is moving that company’s operations to central Ohio, Columbus Business First reports. Grote was founded by Donatos Pizzeria Corp. founder Jim Grote in 1972; the company, which manufactures food equipment, “will add 13 jobs and spend $850,000 to expand its headquarters in Gahanna,” according to the article. The Ohio Tax Credit Authority granted tax assistance to nine companies including Grote this week; the authority “approved a five-year, 0.87 percent tax credit for the creation of $700,000 in new annual payroll at the company.” The company must “retain $6.5 million in existing payroll by the end of 2018” and also “keep the operations at the facility for at least eight years.” For more, read the full article.
