The Ohio Department of Commerce recently announced that starting January 1, 2013, minimum wage in Ohio will increase by 15 cents to $7.85 per hour for “employees of businesses with annual gross receipts of more than $288,000 a year,” and will increase by eight cents to $3.93 per hour for employees who receive tips, the Toledo Blade reports. Voters passed an amendment to the Ohio Constitution in November 2006 that requires the minimum wage to increase by the rate of inflation at the start of each year, the article said. The minimum wage rate for employees at companies with less than $288,000 in gross receipts and for employees under the age of 16 is tied to the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour, the article said.
