For the second year in a row, Ohio was ranked first in the United States in Site Selection magazine’s annual Governor’s Cup ranking, which “measures the number of economic development projects per person,” The Columbus Dispatch reports. Qualifying projects meet one or more of the magazine’s “criteria for inclusion in the Conway Projects Database: a minimum investment of $1 million, creation of 20 or more new jobs or 20,000 square feet or more of new space,” the article reports. Ohio was second only to Texas in total number of projects. Among cities with a population of at least 1 million, Cincinnati, Cleveland and Columbus ranked seventh, ninth and tenth, respectively. The Dayton Daily News reports Toledo tied for top ranking among areas with populations between 200,000 and 1 million, with Dayton-Kettering fifth and Akron tied for tenth in that category.
