Ohio Third Frontier considers expanding its economic development program to include venture capital funding

The Ohio Third Frontier Commission is considering expanding its economic development program beyond investing in tech companies and research to funneling venture capital funds into the "most promising companies that already have received some form of assistance" from the commission, Crain's Cleveland Business reports. Proponents of the idea say the venture capital sector in Ohio is suffering, making it harder for young technology companies to find funding. Some commission members are not convinced that high-tech "Ohio entrepreneurs are struggling to fund their businesses," though, and instead suggest that the commission work with the Ohio Development Services Agency (DSA) to gather additional data on the matter.
