Number of shale permits issued in Ohio growing by leaps and bounds
The Associated Press reports that Ohio has issued 141 drilling permits – 131 for the Utica shale and 10 for the Marcellus – so far this year. By comparison, the state issued only three permits for Utica shale between 2009 and 2010, and only six permits for Marcellus shale between 2006 and 2010.
