New port authority member Emmerling ready to spread the good word about Jefferson County

Newly appointed Jefferson County Port Authority board member Jim Emmerling is already sharing his belief that spreading positive messages about the county will help promote the area’s economic development, the Herald-Star reports. Steubenville City Council recently approved Emmerling, owner of local business Em-Media, to fill a vacant spot on the nine-member board of directors. According to the article, Emmerling said “he believes there is great potential for economic development in Jefferson County,” but he stressed that more positive news about the area is needed. He said, “I am really excited about Debbie Venci’s effort to bring potential developers to downtown Steubenville on Oct. 15. That is a positive project that we need to embrace and do more of in the future.” Emmerling also noted the need to provide jobs for younger area residents, and said he knows Jefferson County can achieve the same kind of significant development that surrounding communities have seen in recent years. “We just need to stress the positives of our area and to work together for the entire community,” he said in the article.
