Pitt Ohio plans to build a 23-acre complex and bring 240 new jobs to Parma, in what “city officials are calling the largest job-creation project in a decade,” Cleveland.com reports. The Parma Planning Commission approved the plans for “a trucking terminal and complex that will be located on Chevrolet Boulevard in front of the former GM Powertrain building,” according to the article. Parma Mayor Tim DeGeeter said the city “offered a payroll-tax rebate to Pitt Ohio in exchange for its payroll commitments of about $7 million.” While he said the details aren’t finalized, “the rebate expires in 15 years and will be capped at 50 percent.” Jim Fields, Chief Operating Office at the Pittsburgh-based trucking company, said construction will begin in about a month and “will take about 18 months to complete.” For more, read the full article.
