Nationally, venture capital fundraising down in first quarter

Nationwide, $4.9 billion was raised by 42 venture capital funds during the first quarter of 2012, the Pittsburgh Business Times reports. According to a recent report by Thomson Reuters and the National Venture Capital Association, that’s a 35 percent decrease in dollars and a 9 percent decrease in the number of funds compared to the first quarter of 2011.
