The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released data today stating that nationally, nonfarm payroll employment rose by 114,000 during the month of September and the unemployment rate, 7.8 percent, decreased significantly from last month’s 8.1 percent. BLS also noted that private sector employment rose in the areas of health care, transportation and warehousing, but changed little in most other major industries. BLS also released revised statistics in total nonfarm payroll employment for July (+141,000 to +181,000) and for August (+96,000 to +142,000).
