The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released data today stating that nationally, non-farm payroll employment rose by 120,000 in November, and the unemployment rate lowered by 0.4 percent to 8.6 percent.  BLS noted that the increase in employment was due to an uptick in private sector hiring, with job growth in retail trade, leisure and hospitality, professional and business services, and health care.  Government employment continues to trend downward.
