National Employment Summary: January 2012

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) released data today stating that nationally, non-farm payroll employment rose by 243,000 in January, as the unemployment rate continued to decrease by 0.2 percent to 8.3 percent.  BLS noted that the increase in employment was due to continued private sector hiring in the areas of professional and business services, leisure and hospitality, and manufacturing.

January 2012 unemployment rates and nonagricultural wage and salary data for Ohio will be released by the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services (ODJFS) on Friday, March 2, 2012. This information and the monthly statistical summaries it is based on are also available here
