Hundreds of new jobs — that’s what Montgomery County commissioners hope the total of $1,115,000 in development grants recently awarded to nine companies will bring to the county, the Dayton Daily News reports. Combined, the companies expect to bring 796 new jobs while retaining 504 existing jobs; a $33 million project at the Dayton International Airport is expected to create 345 new jobs alone (for more, see our April 21, 2016 blog post). Economic Development/Government Equity, or ED/GE, grants were awarded to Honda supplier Green Tokai, Riverside defense company Radiance Technologies, and a Beavercreek Twp. defense contractor, according to the article. Commission President Judy Dodge said, “[t]hese companies want to retain the positions that are here, plus create new ones, which is great for the community.” County Development Director Erik Collins said the county continues to see “‘sizeable growth’ in the number of companies willing to expand.” For more, read the full article.
