Manufacturing sector provides jobs and economic growth for Ohio

Ohio’s manufacturing sector accounts for almost 17 percent of the state’s GDP and provides over 600,000 jobs to Ohioans, according to the Ohio Manufacturing Counts 2012 report from the Ohio Manufacturing Association, Hannah reports. The report indicates that Ohio manufacturers produced $46 billion in export goods and ranked “first, second or third in manufacturing production for 81 categories in the North American Industry Classification System,” the article said. Ohio’s five largest manufacturing employers are General Electric, Proctor & Gamble, Honda Motors, General Motors and Marathon Petroleum, according to data from the Ohio Department of Development.
