The Manufacturing Institute has formed a partnership with Boeing, General Electric, Alcoa, Lockheed Martin and others called the Get Skills to Work coalition that will help U.S. veterans and employers “translate military skills to in-demand advanced manufacturing positions,” Dayton Business Journal reported. In addition to developing a “badge” system that will help translate applicable codes from the U.S. military’s system for identifying jobs to civilian positions in advanced manufacturing, the coalition will also work with technical and community colleges to establish the Right Skills Now for Manufacturing program, which will provide “fast-track attainment of industry-recognized certifications” as well as training in core technical skill areas, the article said.
