The Ohio Power Siting Board recently authorized construction of the 1,050-megawatt, natural gas-fired Harrison Power Plant in Cadiz, according to an article in the TimesReporter.com. Nick Homrighausen, executive director of community & economic development for Harrison County, said the board’s approval was “great news,” calling the power plant “a once-in-a-generation chance to use it to grow,” according to the article. Homrighausen estimates the plant’s construction will bring 500 to 700 construction jobs to the area over a three-year period, in addition to the 25 to 30 high-paying jobs once the plant is operational.
