An Ashtabula County Dashboard Roundtable hosted by Growth Partnership for Ashtabula County (for more on this, see our January 20, 2016 blog post) brought together more than 100 civic and business leaders “to identify the county’s most pressing economic development needs,” the Star Beacon reports. Small groups called action teams (see our February 2, 2016 blog post) worked together “to prioritize the greatest challenges to growth in the county, choosing those groups best suited to tackling them, and how,” according to the article. Groups identified the need for talent and workforce development, “development-minded quality of life improvements,” and “cleaning up the county.” Don Iannone, Growth Partnership CEO, said, “I think the whole idea of teams working to increase their collective impact makes very good use of the resources that exist in the county. . . . It’s a lot better to focus your resources on areas that are important — then work on them over the long haul — than take a scatter approach to economic development.” For more, read the full article.
