Public-private community improvement corporation Grow Licking County voted unanimously to name Alexis Fitzsimmons as its third executive director, following the departure of Nate Strum, who left April 30 for a position as Gahanna’s director of economic development, the Newark Advocate reports. Fitzsimmons graduated from Newark Catholic High School before attending and graduating from Ashland University. She is the director of economic and business development for American Municipal Power, and has also worked for State Farm Insurance in Newark and for the Ohio Department of Development. Fitzsimmons said she’s excited about the opportunity with Grow Licking County, saying, “collaboration is critical to economic development.
