At a forum last month at Bricker & Eckler LLP’s downtown Columbus office, officials “gave a run-down of energy investments in Ohio,” including how these investments have impacted and could continue to impact rural areas of the state, Columbus Business First reports. Tens of millions of dollars have been spent on new energy plants including Oregon Clean Energy Center, Lordstown Energy Center, and South Field Energy LLC. Energy transportation company Enbridge has “1,000 miles of pipeline and 100 employees with $8 million in payroll” in Ohio. Enbridge is opening the Nexus natural gas pipeline that has “created 5,300 construction jobs in the state, $565 million in wages and $390 million in tax revenues.” A study by the American Chemical Council “projected a fully developed Appalachian petrochemical industry could mean the addition of 100,000 jobs and $36 billion in investment and economic development.” For more, read the full article.
