The Dayton Region Priority Development and Advocacy Committee (PDAC) has released “a list of proposed local projects” from a variety of fields including economic development, defense, transportation and others that “will be evaluated for recommendation for federal funding,” the Dayton Daily News reports. The projects will go through a review process to narrow down the list to those “with the greatest potential for job creation and economic impact in the region,” according to the article. PDAC, “a group of about 25 community and business leaders convened by the Dayton Development Coalition,” will present the final candidates to national leaders in Washington, D.C., next spring to lobby for funding. Among the requests for funding are: $2 million for a proposed development project at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds; $15 million to increase critical research at Wright State Applied Research Corp. “to reduce the cost and improve mission effectiveness of Air Force first responders, intelligence system operations, cyber protection, air support operations centers and training”; and $640,000 to “finish the basement level of the Ellis Human Development Institute at Wright State University to expand psychiatry services to more people, especially under-served communities,” a project that would create 100 to 250 jobs.
