Dayton company’s move will bring jobs and $1.5 million investment to Yellow Springs

A printing company is planning a move from downtown Dayton to Dayton Street in Yellow Springs, bringing with it at least 76 jobs plus $1.5 million in property improvements, The Yellow Springs News reports. Dayton Mailing Services has outgrown its current building and is in the process of purchasing the former Creative Memories building, according to the article. The Dayton Business Journal reports that Yellow Springs recently “approved an Enterprise Zone tax abatement worth about $300,000 over 10 years for the property, which must also be approved by Greene County commission.” According to The Yellow Springs News article, the deal is a “75 percent tax abatement on $1.5 million in improvements [the company] intends to make to the property,” while the Village of Yellow Springs will still receive “100 percent of property tax revenue on the building’s current valuation.” Dayton Mailing’s payroll of $2.6 million will add “about $35,000 to $40,000 yearly to Village coffers”; the company plans to add 30 new employees in its first three years in the new location, according to The Yellow Springs News.
