Economic development officials in the Dayton area credit improved knowledge about the site selection decision-making process for recent gains in the region’s distribution industry, Dayton Daily News reports. In addition to boasting a ready workforce as well as trucking and transportation firms, the fact that Dayton has "access to two major interstates and proximity to 60 percent of the U.S. population within a day's drive" is also grabbing the attention of logistics site selectors. Among the companies with existing or planned warehousing and distribution centers in the region are Payless ShoeSource, Collective Brands, Honda, Syncreon, Caterpillar Logistics and Carter Express, the article said.
