The Council of Development Finance Agencies (CDFA) recently announced that it will award the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority (TLCPA) with the CDFA Distinguished Development Finance Agency Award (Local Agency) in recognition of the fact that its "collaboration, public-private partnerships, energy retrofitting, and low-cost financing" have proven to be a "catalyst for revitalizing the region," a press release from the council announced. The Columbus-based Finance Fund also will receive an award for its "ability to apply New Market Tax Credits" to fund a $100 million redevelopment project in downtown Kent, a project that includes the new $15.4-million Kent State University Conference Center & Hotel. Finally, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) will be given the CDFA Federal Development Finance Leadership Award for "advancing development finance" through historic preservation, reshoring manufacturing, and clean-energy investment initiatives.
These awards, which "honor excellence in the use of financing tools for economic development, as well as the individuals who champion these efforts," will be formally presented during the 2013 CDFA National Development Finance Summit in Washington, D.C., on August 8.
