After heavy debate, the Commercial Point Village Council voted last week to enter into a proposed Joint Economic Development District (JEDD) with Scioto Township and Grove City that would allow Scioto to impose an income tax, which it cannot do regularly as a township, The Columbus Dispatch reports. Grove City would "act as taxing administrator and impose its 2 percent income tax on correction workers" from the Pickaway Correctional Institution. That revenue would be used to fully staff the fire department in Scioto Township, which "provides fire and emergency service to the village and the Pickaway Correctional Institution," the article said (See our June 18, 2013, blog post for more information).
