Members of the Clintonville Energy Collaborative see a bright future for solar power in their city, and they’re working to make it more accessible to residents who are interested in solar options, ThisWeek Community News reports. One of the nonprofit organization’s goals is “promoting at least one solar installation on every street in Clintonville as a beacon to neighbors,” said Deborah A. Crawford, president of the Clintonville Energy Collaborative board of directors. Other goals include increasing membership and recruiting “members with trade skills such as electricians, roofers, structural engineers and solar experts.” Brian Brown, board member at large, said he hasn’t made a decision yet about whether he will install solar; due to trees that shade much of his home’s roof, “his only option is a smaller solar installation on top of his garage.” However, Brown noted, “[t]he trend in solar lately has been for costs to go down. The second thing is that the federal tax credit just got extended to 2021. . . . That’s an incentive to say, ‘Oh, I have more time to begin investigating.’”
